Proxy Server?
A proxy server is a server that retrieves Web pages for you, providing only its own identity to the sites it visits. Requesting data comes first to the proxy, and through the requested proxy, the data is transmitted to you.

Reply:Hi there,

A proxy server is a server which works for proxy purpose. A proxy is an internet tool which is used widely nowadays to unblock the filters in order that one can access websites which are blocked for some reasons. Another function a proxy has is it will protect your online privacy, your IP adress and any other personal infos won't be delivered to the website you are browsing.

If what you mean is a web proxy, then I would suggest you to take a look at http://www.independsurfer.info/, and try it. Then you can get a better view of what it is.

Reply:A Proxy Server is used to access Web pages by the other computers. When another computer requests a Web page, it is retrieved by the proxy server and then sent to the requesting computer. The net effect of this action is that the remote computer hosting the Web page never comes into direct contact with anything on your home network, other than the proxy server.

Proxy servers can also make your Internet access work more efficiently. If you access a page on a Web site, it is cached (stored) on the proxy server. This means that the next time you go back to that page, it normally doesn't have to load again from the Web site. Instead it loads instantaneously from the proxy server.
